Purpose of the Website

This is a private reference site with no official role in Western Tidewater Regional Jail, the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office, the City of Suffolk, Virginia courts, VADOC, or any federal agency. It does not store official records. It cannot confirm a person’s custody status, order or carry out a release, change a sentence, file a court document, or answer for a government office.

The pages point visitors toward public inmate and jail-record resources serving Suffolk and toward third-party research tools. A link may help locate the WTRJ roster, a records office, a court portal, VINE, a corrections locator, or another source. The agency or provider maintaining that source controls its records, access rules, and results.

Acceptable Use Rules

You agree to use the site in a lawful way that does not harm people, systems, or other visitors. In particular, you must not:

• Use the site while violating any applicable law or legal restriction
• Use information to stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or harm another person
• Base employment, housing, lending, or insurance decisions on site content
• Try to enter accounts, servers, code, or restricted areas without authorization
• Deploy bots, scrapers, or automated collection tools against the site
• Interfere with operation of the site or another visitor’s access

No Consumer Reports or Screening

Suffolk County Released Inmates is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It does not provide background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports. Its advertising partners likewise do not provide screening services through this site. By using these pages, you agree not to use site information or linked-tool results for:

• Hiring, firing, promotion, or any other employment decision
• Tenant selection, housing access, or rental screening
• Creditworthiness, lending, or the price or availability of insurance
• Licensing, permits, or eligibility for a government program
• Any other purpose governed by the FCRA

Resources Operated by Others

Pages may link to release records, WTRJ or corrections resources, Virginia and federal portals, legal-aid information, and outside search services. A link does not transfer control of that destination to us and does not endorse every statement or service found there. We are not responsible for an outside site’s content, data practices, fees, terms, security, or availability. Review that provider’s current terms and privacy notice before using it.

Information Provided As Is

The site, its text, and its functions are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, no promise or warranty is made about:

• The accuracy, completeness, or current status of information
• Continuous or uninterrupted access to any page or tool
• Freedom from errors, defects, harmful code, or security weaknesses
• The scope or completeness of results returned by a search partner

Custody status, release events, court dockets, office contacts, and public-access rules can change. Nothing published here is an official statement from WTRJ, the Suffolk Sheriff, VADOC, a court, or any other government agency. Confirm a material fact with the office that created or maintains the record.

Limits on Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Suffolk County Released Inmates and those involved in operating it are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or other damages arising from access to, inability to use, or reliance on the site, its content, or any linked resource.

Your Duty to Indemnify

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Suffolk County Released Inmates and its operators from claims, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your use of the site or your violation of these terms. This duty includes reasonable legal fees where the law allows them.

Ownership of Site Materials

Unless a page states otherwise, the site’s original text, graphics, logos, arrangement, and code belong to Suffolk County Released Inmates or its content partners. You may not copy, republish, distribute, modify, sell, or create derivative works from those materials without prior written permission. Government records and third-party materials remain subject to their own ownership and access rules.

Revisions to These Terms

We may revise these Terms & Conditions at any time. A new version becomes effective when it is posted on this page. Continued use after posting means acceptance of the revised terms.

Suspension or Loss of Access

We may restrict, suspend, or end access to all or part of the site at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice. That right includes action taken to protect users, systems, rights, or site availability.

Virginia Law Applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that must be filed in court will be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction within Virginia.

If One Term Is Invalid

If a court finds one part of these terms invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect. The affected provision will be limited or adjusted only as much as needed to make it valid and enforceable where possible.
